Benemerenti Medal

In 1948, Pope Pius XII conferred the Benemerenti Medal upon Paul Zammit for building a church in the canefields. One of the highest papal honours bestowed upon the laity in service to the Catholic church, family and community, Zammit was the
1st Queenslander & 4th Australian to receive the papal award.
